"We don't stop playing because we grow old...we grow old because we stop playing."
George Bernard Shaw
ASHLEY'S UNIQUE PERSPECTIVE...
Ashley enjoys working with a variety of individuals, amongst all ages, but specializes as a child and adolescent therapist. She operates through a child-centered/person-centered approach through the healing power of play (child-centered play therapy), expressive arts, and social skills groups.
Ashley's clinical experience includes working at Inneractions Therapy Services and Hope Counseling Center. She has worked with individuals from ages three to fifty-three and has found so much joy with each individual and their story. Ashley has also worked with individuals diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder during her clinical experience.
She received her bachelor's degree from Coastal Carolina University in Psychology and earned her master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Richmont Graduate University. She also holds certificates in Trauma Counseling and Child & Adolescent Counseling.
Ashley has also been trained through the Darkness to Light program focusing on child abuse. She is a pre-licensed professional working towards licensure as a professional counselor as well as the hope to become a Registered Play Therapist. Ashley will be working under the clinical supervision of Keith Myers.
Areas of focus include Child-Center Play Therapy, Autism/Asperger's, social skills, anxiety, stress/worry, trauma, boundaries, work/life balance, life transitions, and a variety of child-related issues/concerns.
