Oh, the comfort — the inexpressible comfort of feeling safe with a person — having neither to weigh thoughts nor measure words, but pouring them all right out, just as they are…”

- Dina Craik

Brooke’s areas of focus are individual counseling for adolescents and adults, couples counseling, trauma therapy, and spirituality counseling. She also provides training and workshops for churches, schools, and organizations.

Brooke is a Licensed Associate Professional Counselor and a National Certified Counselor located in Marietta, Georgia. She earned a Master of Arts degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Richmont Graduate University, and her undergraduate degree from Loyola University in Maryland.

Prior to joining Perspectives Psychological, Brooke’s clinical experience includes providing individual, group, and crisis intervention counseling to adolescents, adults, and families at Ridgeview Institute – Women’s Trauma and Eating Disorders in inpatient, partial outpatient (PHP) and intensive outpatient (IOP) levels of care. She also worked the Westridge Hope Counseling Center where she saw adolescent and adult individuals, couples, and families.

Brooke’s perspective is that psychotherapy should be approached from a holistic perspective – addressing mental, emotional, physical, spiritual, and relational health, with the goal of seeing personal growth and lasting change as opposed to simply a temporary fix.

Her theoretical focus typically combines a psychodynamic (insight-oriented) and interpersonal (relational) approach, with cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT) intertwined as needed. Brooke recognizes that each person is unique and has differing needs and goals, and therefore tailors her approach to meet the needs of each individual client.

Brooke enjoys working with clients whose faith is an essential component of life decisions. She has training and years of experience in helping individuals explore their beliefs about God’s love, forgiveness, and other questions in a nonjudgmental environment. She understands the importance the role one’s faith may play within the therapeutic process and am comfortable discussing these values with clients. Faith integration is always done at the client’s request and a very important principle to her is to never impose her faith onto a client. People from every (or no) faith background are welcomed.

Clients describe Brooke as a warm and welcoming person who provides a comfortable, positive, and safe environment where healing and change may take place.
